Since joining Gordon & Polscer, L.L.C. in 2008, Brian Hickman has consistently obtained favorable resolutions for his clients whether through settlement or litigation. Litigation successes include an award of summary judgment, and subsequent affirmance, on a 5+ million dollar first-party "collapse" claim; an award of summary judgment, and subsequent affirmance, in a dispute between a primary and excess carrier over coverage for allegations of child abuse; an award of summary judgment, and subsequent affirmance, on an 18+ million dollar fraud/estoppel/negligent procurement claim; an award of summary judgment in a lawsuit over a fatal auto accident, and multiple dismissals by way of Rule 21 Motions.  Brian has also successfully defended numerous appeals before the state and federal appellate courts of Oregon and Washington.

Brian’s practice focuses on representing clients in Oregon and Washington with respect to complex commercial litigation, including insurance coverage, insurance defense, food contamination, contractual disputes, real estate disputes, auto accidents, unfair trade practices, construction defects and bad faith claims. Brian prefers to keep his clients out of litigation but, when the time comes, will fight vigorously on his clients' behalf, both at the trial court level and in any resulting appeal.

Prior to joining Gordon & Polscer, Brian worked at an active litigation firm in Bend, Oregon, specializing in real property and construction law. His past experience of representing both owners and contractors in construction defect cases provided Brian with a valuable perspective for his current commercial litigation practice.

Brian received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Rice University in 1996. After more than three years working as a counselor for troubled youth, Brian decided to pursue a career as a counselor-at-law. In 2002, he graduated No. 1 in his class from Thomas Jefferson School of Law. In 2003, Brian was admitted to practice law in Oregon. Brian was previously recognized as a Rising Star in Oregon's  Super Lawyers, and he has presented at multiple seminars, primarily on the topics of insurance coverage and bad faith.
